Track Bar Tales - What I Learned the Hard Way!
Share
Alex here, taking a break from crafting tire covers to share a story that might save you some headaches (and cash). Remember when I bought my first "upgraded" Jeep and thought everything was trail-ready? Well, let me tell you about my track bar adventure...
The Situation: Just like you, I once had a Rubicon Express RE1600 track bar that needed replacing. Seemed simple enough, right? Wrong! 😅
What I Discovered:
- Not all track bars are created equal
- Factory brackets need specific fitment
- Those fancy CavFab bars? They need special mounting brackets
- Double shear setups are worth saving for!
Real Talk from My Experience: Tried to save money by getting a basic adjustable bar - ended up spending more fixing my mistake. Here's what I learned:
The Budget-Friendly Route:
- Reuse your factory mounting points
- Replace just the heim joint (RuffStuff makes good ones)
- Grab a Moog K3147 bushing
- Keep your original ball bolt
The "Save Up For It" Solution:
- Double shear setup
- Proper mounting brackets
- Peace of mind on the trails
Keep it Straight,
Alex
